Tony Parlapiano

Although Tony began playing music at the age of 11, it was not until his second year in college while pursuing a music education degree that he started to play the piano. After a summer of listening to Bill Evans, Bruce Hornsby and Randy Newman he came back to school, changed his major to Jazz Studies and continued pursuing his studies on piano under the instruction of Paul Arslanian, Ralph Whittle and James Argiro. During his later college years he met singer/songwriter David Cain, where he quickly adapted the role of playing organ bass. The two would often play as a duo at  "Acoustic Nights," an open mic which was hosted by Bill Carleton. After enjoying a copy of As Promised (Bill's first album), Tony got in touch with Bill, told him how much he enjoyed his honest and sincere songwriting and expressed his desire to work with him in what ever capacity he needed. It was perfect timing; Bill had just begun booking to promote the new record and offered to include Tony on a few upcoming dates that evening. The two have been working together ever since. Tony's other credits include performing/recording with Rane, Renata, The Brian Jarvis Band and sitting in on side projects such as The Triptophan Cartel and Bad Jazz Manual. In addition to playing with Bill Carleton, you may also currently find Tony sitting in with singer/songwriter Lori Amey.
